Children’s Workshop: Imperfect Cinetrain

Taking inspiration from the ‘Kino Train’ of the Soviet Montage Film Movement of the 1920’s, Imperfect Cinema will be holding a hands-on film-making workshop in which participants will be encouraged to grab a camera and jump on board the ‘Imperfect Cinetrain!’ The workshop is aimed towards younger people and will involve them in the capture and creation of original film footage whilst travelling on the River Tamar Line from Bere Alston to Plymouth and back again, promising to be an exciting and dynamic experience in which all participants are able to contribute to an original piece of film work which will premiere on Sunday 12^th October in Devonport as part of the Walk On events.

With an emphasis on fun, creativity and connecting young people with history and their environment, The Imperfect Cinetrain workshop promises to be an exciting and dynamic experience in which all participants are able to contribute to an original piece of film work which will premiere on Sunday 12^th October!

The workshop will start at Bere Alston Parish Hall at 1pm in which the young participants will be introduced to Imperfect Cinema, watch some films from their back catalogue, be introduced to their cameras, and be issued with their challenge and treasure maps for the Imperfect Cinetrain activity! We will be leaving the Village Hall at 2.15pm to make our way to the Bere Alston Train Station ready for the 3.05pm departure to Plymouth! On the return journey from Plymouth to Bere Alston, the participants will be treated to a story based around the River Tamar by local author Rachel Gippetti, with visuals provided by Imperfect Cinema. The train will arrive back in Bere Alston at 16:04 where the passengers will disembark and make their way back to the Parish Hall, where Imperfect Cinema will involve participants in one last film-making challenge before the footage is taken away and crafted into its final form which will be premiered on Sunday 12^th October. All participants will be provided with a link where they can download the final film to share with family and friends in the comfort of their own homes.

This film-making workshop will suit participants of ages 7-14 years of age and parents are encouraged to get involved too! The workshop is limited to ten young participants and all cameras will be provided by Imperfect Cinema.
