For one night only, Bere Alston Parish Hall is transformed into its former use as a war-time cinema. Complete with archive newsreel, your feature film for the evening is the classic 1949 Ealing Studios Comedy Whisky Galore!
The horror of wartime rationing finally hits a remote Scottish island when the supply of whisky runs out. Without the “uisge beatha” (water of life) to sustain them, depression descends until a chance shipwreck and its precious cargo are discovered. Can the islanders outwit the soldiers to smuggle the whisky ashore before the boat sinks?
Hungry? Keep calm and carry on! Complete your vintage cinema experience with an authentic period menu prior to the start of the film:
– Cottage Pie (Beef or Lentil)
– Bread and Apple Pudding – with whisky sauce!
Dinner is served at 6pm, Bere Alston Parish Hall, £7.
