Melanie Manchot: The Hall

The Hall

Screening as part of the Artist Talk: Melanie Manchot event.

The communities and people who live on the banks of the river are essential to its life and give it meaning, creating a relationship between river and place. Melanie Manchot is curious about the clubs and groups that occupy the community centre’s and village halls along its banks. Centred on those individuals and groups who occupy these spaces for a few hours each week,  The Hall reveals a complex and intimate portrait of modern life on the banks of the Tamar.

The screening of The Hall at Landulph Memorial Hall will be accompanied by a Q & A and the film Sleep Furiously.

The Hall can also be seen alongside Muscle Shoals and Viva at Calstock Arts on Sat 13 Sept.

Melanie Manchot is a London based artist who works with photography, film and video as a performative and participatory practice. Her projects often explore specific sites and public spaces in order to locate notions of individual and collective identities.
